Our last family vacation was 26 years ago but our trip to Mare Blu was well worth the wait. As we walked down the steps to the villa it got very quiet and the family members just looked at each other. We couldn't believe what we were seeing. The view was absolutely spectacular.Then 7 kids jumped into the pool and our vacation began. The pictures that you see on line show how beautiful the villa is, but they do not show the warmth and coziness that is Mare Blu. It is so spacious that even though there were 7 adults and 7 teens we all had our privacy and didn't ever get in each others way. But with the fabulous layout we were also together. I hope that makes sense. Our mornings were spent having breakfast together at the outdoor table with some relaxing in the pool and others reading along side it. We ate in every night thanks to my sons in law who are closeted chefs and the well appointed kitchen. The location of Mare Blu is just perfect. We were close to the beaches and the town but away from the bustle of both. Our host Teri had mentioned that we might find that we wanted to stay at the villa and she was right. While the snorkelers of the group went exploring the beaches the lazy ones relaxed at the villa and never felt deprived. We will not wait another 26 years to go on vacation together. Ultimate Relaxation I stayed at Mare Blu with my boyfriend and our friends the week of July 4, 2015. It was truly the trip of a lifetime. Walking in to the house for the first time is (almost) the best part: the expansive view of the Caribbean, the huge infinity pool, and the numerous amenities Mare Blu has to offer will take your breath away. We spent a while walking around the property and taking everything in-before jumping in the pool! Our stay in St. John was the perfect mix of activity and relaxation. We made trips to several beaches, went on some beautiful hikes, and spent more than a few happy hours in Cruz Bay. Having Mare Blu as a home base to return to was always such a great feeling. Couples could retreat to their bedroom suites or intimate porches for privacy, or we could socialize in the great room or in the veranda by the pool. The space is perfectly constructed to allow both togetherness and alone time. reading a book by the pool was my favorite activity, while my boyfriend enjoyed watching sports from the pool( yes- the pool faces the ocean on one side and a large-screen TV on the other!.) We even spent a couple of days just relaxing at the house all day and cooking at home. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare full meals; you will not want for anything while at Mare Blu. We played poker from the games provided, watched Movies while floating in the pool, and made pina coladas to sip while we cooked on the grill. I spent a wonderful weel at Mare Blu. It surpassed all of my expectations. It is beautifully designed so that even when you are inside, you feel as if you are outside. Atlhough the interior spaces have air conditioning, the rooms are open to the outside looking over Rendezvous Bay and the Caribbean. There are ceiling fans throughout. The steady breeze was relaxing and comfortable at all times of day. The exterior living space is spacious, welcoming, and relaxing. It is a glorious place to eat, swim, read, and relax. Everything you needs is there. Although I had to work while I was at Mare Blu (writing and on the telephone), I found it to be the most comfortable place I have ever worked, or ever been for that matter. It was quiet so it was easy to concentrate. The property was carefully designed with the highest level of finishes both inside and out. It is impeccably maintained. Villa was perfect for our family. The villa was beautiful and fully met and exceeded our expectations. We were traveling with our children and grandchildren and there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy time together and areas to get away and read. PERFECT LOCATION FOR TWO FAMILIES OR MULTIPLE COUPLES! We stayed here the week of July 4th. We could not have been happier.The house has everything: infinity pool, tv's everywhere (although we rarely used them, we would rather look out at the ocean), fully appointed kitchen, including ice maker, multiple stoves and dishwashers. A very hearty thank you for opening your fantastic house to us! Arriving down your driveway and through the gates into that oasis propelled a very excited group to new heights of enthusiasm. We were in the pool within minutes, with the dreamlike view of the Caribbean below and twinkling lights of St. Croix beyond. Every aspect of the home was comfortable to the point of luxurious and conducive to both privacy and group living. From the well-equipped indoor and outdoor kitchens, the en-suite bedrooms, and multiple outdoor living spaces, it was hard to decide where to hang out, although the perfectly sited infinity pool almost always won. Among many stand-out moments, an image of all the men in our group floating for hours in the pool one gorgeous Sunday afternoon while watching football on the large-screen television in the outdoor tv area highlights the pure relaxation and all-you-could-wish-for ambiance of the entire week. Every amenity you could desire provided in a brochure-quality setting. Dining at the expansive outdoor table and gathering afterward on the covered terrace (before inevitably ending up back in the pool) each evening was the stuff of dreams only to be surpassed by waking up the following morning to balmy breezes and panoramic views of a sparkling Caribbean, framed by hibiscus and bougainvillea. Our extended family (13 of us) were looking for a great place to celebrate my Father's 75th birthday and my wife was lucky enough to stumble across the Mare Blue website. The spectacular pictures on the web site convinced us that this would be a perfect location, but believe me that they can't come close to capturing the true beauty and magic of this wonderful villa. We had committed to rent the villa and the transaction was completed, but once the owner knew that the entire trip was to celebrate my father's birthday, she was so helpful and kind; she basically became our travel agent and helped make all the plans as simple as possible for us. We had such an unbelievable stay at the Mare Blue. The views are amazing, and the house is spectacular. We couldn't have asked for more. 7/14-7/21 4 adults, 2 children, ages 5 and 15 months Our time at Mare Blu was perfect and amazingly restful. The main house living area was very comfortable and the kitchen is probably better appointed than your own home with drink glasses, plates, bowls and cutlery for every taste, shape and size. We seldomly went to town and did our cooking, drinking and concocting at the villa. The kitchen and outdoor cooking area, complete with its own set of plastic break proof glasses and cooking utensils, made staying in a pleasure. In the evening we put the kids to bed and played cards in the various outdoor lounges and listened to music or just the natural surrounding chirping away. The bed rooms were spacious and beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms are all beautiful. I opted for the outdoor showers most days. In regards to hosts, Teri was amazingly attentive during the booking phase, in the weeks leading up to departure and she even called on the second day to be sure we were enjoying ourselves and to answer any questions. In regards to the onsite property manager, Justin, all I can say is he is worth every dime. Justin met us at our boat, led us to Mare Blu and spent an hour walking the property with us to show us all of the nooks and crannies. Throughout the week we had a few questions and Justin would give us info or go about helping us track down what we were looking for. "You want lobsters? I know a fishing boat captain. They'll be in the fridge when you get home tonight" and they were. All in al, this is a perfect get-away. You will be happy in your decision should you decide to book. I promise you will enjoy it! LUXURY- RETREAT WITH NO DETAIL OVERLOOKED!! Mare Blu was everything we envisioned our luxury rental to be and even more. No detail has been overlooked. From the wonderful linens and towels, to comfortable furniture and a perfectly stocked kitchen, even down to the outside lighting! Teri & Bernie did not miss any opportunity to make this home comfortable and inviting. They are absolutely a joy to work with and the concierge, Drew , continues that professionalism during our stay. The layout of the home gives everyone plenty of space to gather and yet, opportunity to relax in privacy if you choose. We had two families with 7 teens and college aged kids and never felt on top of each other or too much in the kids space. We stayed at Mare Blu to celebrate my twin daughters' birthday. We could not have imagined a more perfect setting for a celebration! The villa is a convenient drive to town, nestled on the lush hillside of St. John's South Shore. The pictures do not lie, there are vast ocean vistas available from every room. Mare Blu is nothing like the typical St. John villa (we've seen many of them personally): it is vibrantly decorated with rich color and artwork.
