We stayed at Mare Blu with several friends and do not think it could have been more perfect. The villa is a short distance to town where we found great places to eat and to shop. The ocean views are spectacular from all the rooms and the outside living area. The kitchen is very special with every convenience imaginable. There are many special decorative details throughout the complex that are tastefully done to capture a modern yet tropical theme. The pool is definitely special and really like the no chlorine water. I spent a wonderful weel at Mare Blu. It surpassed all of my expectations. It is beautifully designed so that even when you are inside, you feel as if you are outside. Atlhough the interior spaces have air conditioning, the rooms are open to the outside looking over Rendezvous Bay and the Caribbean. There are ceiling fans throughout. The steady breeze was relaxing and comfortable at all times of day. The exterior living space is spacious, welcoming, and relaxing. It is a glorious place to eat, swim, read, and relax. Everything you needs is there. Although I had to work while I was at Mare Blu (writing and on the telephone), I found it to be the most comfortable place I have ever worked, or ever been for that matter. It was quiet so it was easy to concentrate. The property was carefully designed with the highest level of finishes both inside and out. It is impeccably maintained. We found Villa Mare Blu to be everything advertised and more. We travel with our family a lot all over the world. Quite often the rental homes do not have adequately stocked kitchens, substandard bedding and a host of things that can't be seen in photos. None of that is true about this house. It is stocked with everything you can imagine. The upholstery is nicely kept and the grounds are beautiful. Each bedroom is private and they all have views of the beautiful bay below. Everything is perfect. The phots do show how wonderfully situated the home is on the water--amazing sunrises! Mare Blu is well designed and in a great location. We have been spending a week or more on St. John for almost 25 years and after recently staying a week at Mare Blu Villa would rate it as one of our favorites. The owner, Teri Ackerman, was very flexible and easy to work with and personally followed up both during and after our stay to make sure we were happy. The Villa is easy driving distance from Cruz Bay and faces south above Monte and Rendezvous Bays, so it is easy to sit in the outdoor areas both morning and afternoon without the sun shining directly in your face. We stayed at Mare Blu ( 6 adults & 3 teenagers) during the summer and had an absolute ball. The amenities were top notch. The rooms were well appointed and situated so that everyone had privacy. The layout of the house was perfect for multiple families or people of various ages to have their own space, as well as great space to hang out together. Teri Ackerman, the owner of Mare Blu, is the best. She is extremely competent and easy to work with. Her understanding of families and how memories are made are reflected in the design of her villa. The kitchen, grilling area, dining area and gathering space all followed together as one beautiful family area which then seamlessly flowed to the deck and pool (what a great pool). I would be grilling and having a conversation with my wife Debby in the kitchen, turn and talk to my daughter at the dining room table as she showed me photos from the days dive, turn just a little more and watch my grandson in the pool. It does not get any better than that. Yet Teri created a place of sanctuary in each bedroom. They are spacious and almost mini suites as there is setting areas in each bedroom. Teri left no stone unturned in equipping the villa with top of the line appliances. Her ice maker keep ahead of 12 people. Enough dishes, glasses etc. to meet the needs of a group of 20 or more. We stayed at Mare Blu to celebrate my twin daughters' birthday. We could not have imagined a more perfect setting for a celebration! The villa is a convenient drive to town, nestled on the lush hillside of St. John's South Shore. The pictures do not lie, there are vast ocean vistas available from every room. Mare Blu is nothing like the typical St. John villa (we've seen many of them personally): it is vibrantly decorated with rich color and artwork. Our group of 11 (7 adults and 4 kids under 8 years old) had a fantastic time staying at Mare Blu this February. The house was as described and depicted and was perfect for our needs - from the huge outdoor lounge area where we spent every morning and evening, gorgeous pool with even better views and separate bedrooms with en suite bathrooms - we had enough space to get together as well as enough space to get alone time when we needed it. As big foodies and home cooks, we were shocked and thrilled with how well-stocked the kitchen was and appreciated having two dishwashers after big family meals at the huge table on the patio. Our last family vacation was 26 years ago but our trip to Mare Blu was well worth the wait. As we walked down the steps to the villa it got very quiet and the family members just looked at each other. We couldn't believe what we were seeing. The view was absolutely spectacular.Then 7 kids jumped into the pool and our vacation began. The pictures that you see on line show how beautiful the villa is, but they do not show the warmth and coziness that is Mare Blu. It is so spacious that even though there were 7 adults and 7 teens we all had our privacy and didn't ever get in each others way. But with the fabulous layout we were also together. I hope that makes sense. Our mornings were spent having breakfast together at the outdoor table with some relaxing in the pool and others reading along side it. We ate in every night thanks to my sons in law who are closeted chefs and the well appointed kitchen. The location of Mare Blu is just perfect. We were close to the beaches and the town but away from the bustle of both. Our host Teri had mentioned that we might find that we wanted to stay at the villa and she was right. While the snorkelers of the group went exploring the beaches the lazy ones relaxed at the villa and never felt deprived. We will not wait another 26 years to go on vacation together. And when we get back to St John we will only stay at Mare Blu. When writing this I had a hard time not saying spectacular over and over....... Read More...
