Elegant, comfortable, well-designed and well-appointed are just a few of the characteristics of Mare Blu on St. John. Our extended family - ranging in age from early teens to mid-seventies - had a wonderful time. The pool is both beautiful and useful for lap swimming and playing. The well-designed and well-supplied kitchen allowed the chefs, sous-chefs, and grill masters to express themselves. Cable and Wi-Fi allow connection - if desired - to the outside world. The villa owner and the house manager were available, attentive and very helpful. The design of the villa allows for privacy, for view-watching and for multiple simultaneous, non-interfering activities. There are lovely places to sit and take in the view, read or do puzzles. A Slice of Paradise-The Perfect Goup Getaway Mare Blu Villa is pure magic. We recently stayed here with three other couples(two of whom brought their babies), and every single one of us left completely blown away by the experience. The villa is beautifully designed-every detail feel intentional, luxurious and welcoming. Each couple had their own spacious private suite, which gave everyone space to unwind while still being able to enjoy time together. It’s rare to find a place that offers that perfect blend of privacy and shared space, but Mare Blu nails it. Days were spent swimming in the pool, sipping cocktails made with fresh bananas from the property, soaking in the sunshine. Watching the Super Bowl from the pool was an unforgettable highlight-definitely one for the memory books! Evenings were magical-we’d gather under the cabana to play games, share stories, and listen to the sounds of the island. It felt like our own private resort, tucked away in paradise. The babies in our group had an amazing time too-plenty of safe space to explore and splash around, which made the trip even more special. Mare Blu Villa exceeded every expectation. Teri Ackerman, the owner of Mare Blu, is the best. She is extremely competent and easy to work with. Her understanding of families and how memories are made are reflected in the design of her villa. The kitchen, grilling area, dining area and gathering space all followed together as one beautiful family area which then seamlessly flowed to the deck and pool (what a great pool). I would be grilling and having a conversation with my wife Debby in the kitchen, turn and talk to my daughter at the dining room table as she showed me photos from the days dive, turn just a little more and watch my grandson in the pool. It does not get any better than that. Yet Teri created a place of sanctuary in each bedroom. They are spacious and almost mini suites as there is setting areas in each bedroom. Teri left no stone unturned in equipping the villa with top of the line appliances. Her ice maker keep ahead of 12 people. Enough dishes, glasses etc. to meet the needs of a group of 20 or more. We had a fantastic time staying at Mare Blu Villa last fall. The house is beautiful and completely furnished with everything we needed. The kitchen was an especially nice surprise. Most vacation homes are only stocked with the bare minimum of supplies or have old and worn out items. This place was REALLY well stocked with everything we needed for cooking and serving a nice meal on those rare occasions we stayed in. Teri and Bernie called just after we arrived to make sure were taken care of. Their recommendations for food and activities helped guide us for the week. Justin helped us out with everything from how to find a hidden beach to providing babysitter contacts. 6 adults and 6 kids had plenty of space to relax and play without feeling the slightest bit cramped. We really appreciate the lengths that the Ackermans went to to make our stay comfortable, fun and relaxing. The best hosts you could find on the island!!! I can't say enough wonderful things about Mare Blu! Everything about this place is magical. Twelve of us spent a week here for my husband's 50th birthday celebration and had the time of our lives. This was our 5th stay on the island and by far the best. Mare Blu is perfectly spread out which made it SO comfortable for all of us. The pool was amazing - especially for the guys who watched Sunday football while floating:-) The owners were SO gracious and accommodating - no question was too small to ask. PERFECTION!!! If we were told we could use only one word to describe our experience at Mare Blu, it would be perfect! The owners have successfully incorporated the beauty, colors and cheerfulness of the Carribean in every room of this incredibly thoughtout house. Comfort and uniqueness abound in the decor, each room is amazingly private, yet there are incredible open and inviting areas for gatherings, all with the most incredible views. Every detail has been provided for, and once you've done a little grocery shopping, you literally do not ever have to leave the house. The location is a huge plus-everything is within easy driving distance. Ultimate Relaxation I stayed at Mare Blu with my boyfriend and our friends the week of July 4, 2015. It was truly the trip of a lifetime. Walking in to the house for the first time is (almost) the best part: the expansive view of the Caribbean, the huge infinity pool, and the numerous amenities Mare Blu has to offer will take your breath away. We spent a while walking around the property and taking everything in-before jumping in the pool! Our stay in St. John was the perfect mix of activity and relaxation. We made trips to several beaches, went on some beautiful hikes, and spent more than a few happy hours in Cruz Bay. Having Mare Blu as a home base to return to was always such a great feeling. Couples could retreat to their bedroom suites or intimate porches for privacy, or we could socialize in the great room or in the veranda by the pool. The space is perfectly constructed to allow both togetherness and alone time. reading a book by the pool was my favorite activity, while my boyfriend enjoyed watching sports from the pool( yes- the pool faces the ocean on one side and a large-screen TV on the other!.) We even spent a couple of days just relaxing at the house all day and cooking at home. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare full meals; you will not want for anything while at Mare Blu. We played poker from the games provided, watched Movies while floating in the pool, and made pina coladas to sip while we cooked on the grill. Our last family vacation was 26 years ago but our trip to Mare Blu was well worth the wait. As we walked down the steps to the villa it got very quiet and the family members just looked at each other. We couldn't believe what we were seeing. The view was absolutely spectacular.Then 7 kids jumped into the pool and our vacation began. The pictures that you see on line show how beautiful the villa is, but they do not show the warmth and coziness that is Mare Blu. It is so spacious that even though there were 7 adults and 7 teens we all had our privacy and didn't ever get in each others way. But with the fabulous layout we were also together. I hope that makes sense. Our mornings were spent having breakfast together at the outdoor table with some relaxing in the pool and others reading along side it. We ate in every night thanks to my sons in law who are closeted chefs and the well appointed kitchen. The location of Mare Blu is just perfect. We were close to the beaches and the town but away from the bustle of both. Our host Teri had mentioned that we might find that we wanted to stay at the villa and she was right. While the snorkelers of the group went exploring the beaches the lazy ones relaxed at the villa and never felt deprived. We will not wait another 26 years to go on vacation together. 7/14-7/21 4 adults, 2 children, ages 5 and 15 months Our time at Mare Blu was perfect and amazingly restful. The main house living area was very comfortable and the kitchen is probably better appointed than your own home with drink glasses, plates, bowls and cutlery for every taste, shape and size. We seldomly went to town and did our cooking, drinking and concocting at the villa. The kitchen and outdoor cooking area, complete with its own set of plastic break proof glasses and cooking utensils, made staying in a pleasure. In the evening we put the kids to bed and played cards in the various outdoor lounges and listened to music or just the natural surrounding chirping away. The bed rooms were spacious and beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms are all beautiful. I opted for the outdoor showers most days. In regards to hosts, Teri was amazingly attentive during the booking phase, in the weeks leading up to departure and she even called on the second day to be sure we were enjoying ourselves and to answer any questions. In regards to the onsite property manager, Justin, all I can say is he is worth every dime. Justin met us at our boat, led us to Mare Blu and spent an hour walking the property with us to show us all of the nooks and crannies. Throughout the week we had a few questions and Justin would give us info or go about helping us track down what we were looking for. "You want lobsters? I know a fishing boat captain.
